Scanning the Walkscape
an audio-guided urban walk

Cities have endless layers. Longer and shorter hi-stories are written constantly in their paths. They are composed by visible and invisible traces that continuously re-configure their existence, and our courses in them. In this danced audio walk, Aris proposes to reveal a certain number of them : architectural choices and left-overs, vernacular habits and trades, national ideological narratives and their imprint on humans’ lives. With the use of movement and words, he guides us through a section of the city, joining together highly technical information and personal narrative.

Tο περπάτημα στην πόλη ενός άλλου, η εγκατάλειψη στην καθοδήγηση μιας φωνής, είναι μια παράξενα ενσώματη εμπειρία της πόλης. Δίνεις το σώμα σου, συμμετέχοντας σε ένα τέτοιο audio walk, δάνειο και εργαλείο σε μια άλλη πρακτική. Η παρατήρηση εντείνεται μέσα και έξω από το σωμα, καθώς αυτό μετράει τις αποστάσεις, αναλογίες και στοιχεία που αναγνωρίζει ή που γνωρίζει πρώτη φορά στις αφηγήσεις που δέχεται. Το περπάτημα από το σπιτι στη δουλειά του Άρη, δίνει το ζητούμενο ταρακούνημα μιας άλλης ματιάς, ομοίως με αυτό που ζήσαμε στην προσφάτως κατεπείγουσα άρση της ρουτίνας μας.
